Puducherry Hosts Mega Marathon to Raise Awareness on Tuberculosis, Over 300 Runners Join the Cause

Puducherry: In a dynamic effort to combat tuberculosis (TB) and raise public awareness, the State Tuberculosis Office (STC), Puducherry, in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (IGMCRI), organized a high-impact marathon. Themed "Join the Race to End TB," this event was a key initiative under India's ongoing 100-day TB awareness campaign, aimed at mobilizing communities to fight against one of the nation’s most pressing health concerns.

With over 300 enthusiastic participants, the marathon served as a platform to spread crucial information about TB prevention, early diagnosis, and effective treatment. It underscored the urgency of addressing India’s high TB burden and emphasized the role of public participation in eliminating the disease.

Leaders and Experts Join Hands to Flag Off the Event

The marathon was flagged off by Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) R. Kalaivanan and Director of Health V. Ravichandran, alongside a distinguished panel of healthcare professionals, including IGMCRI Director C. Udayashankar, Dean Ramachandra Bhat, Professor and Head of Community Medicine Dr. Kavita Vasudevan, State TB Officer C. Venkatesh, and State Consultant Surya.

A Five-Kilometer Run for a TB-Free Future

The race kicked off at IGMCRI, Kadirkamam, covering a five-kilometer route before culminating at Gandhi Thidal. Coordinated under the leadership of R. Anandaraj of the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP-STF), the event saw participation from people of all ages, including students, healthcare workers, fitness enthusiasts, and local community members, all rallying behind the cause of TB eradication.

Raising Awareness Through Action

Organizers highlighted that India continues to face one of the highest TB burdens in the world, making proactive awareness campaigns crucial. Tuberculosis, a preventable and curable disease, still claims thousands of lives due to delayed diagnosis, lack of awareness, and improper treatment adherence. Events like this marathon serve as a reminder that education, lifestyle changes, and community engagement are essential in the fight against TB.

The initiative also emphasized the government’s goal of making India TB-free by 2025, aligning with global efforts to end tuberculosis as a public health crisis. Public health experts stressed that adopting healthier lifestyles, ensuring proper nutrition, and breaking social stigmas associated with TB are key strategies to accelerate progress toward eradication.

Uniting Communities for a Common Cause

The marathon not only raised awareness but also fostered a sense of collective responsibility among participants, encouraging them to become advocates for TB prevention in their communities. Healthcare professionals and policymakers continue to call for increased public participation in similar initiatives to ensure that no individual succumbs to a disease that is both treatable and preventable.

With events like this, Puducherry is setting a strong example for public health awareness and community-driven action, reinforcing the belief that together, we can put an end to tuberculosis.

Puducherry Govt Addresses Healthcare Manpower Shortage, Prioritizes Advanced Medical Facilities

Lt. Governor Highlights Puducherry’s Leadership in Health Initiatives

Puducherry is taking significant steps to bridge the manpower gap in its healthcare sector while also strengthening medical infrastructure to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare for all, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy announced during a health festival.

Inaugurating the event, which will run until March 2, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan emphasized Puducherry’s proactive approach in implementing national health programs. However, he stressed that the success of these initiatives hinges on sustained public awareness and community participation, alongside government efforts.

Health Festival Focuses on Awareness and Accessibility

The health festival aims to educate citizens about various healthcare schemes and extend basic medical services, particularly to marginalized communities. Lt. Governor Kailashnathan noted that while Puducherry is a leader in delivering quality healthcare, a collective effort is essential to maximize the impact of these programs.

Chief Minister Rangasamy acknowledged the urgent need to expedite the recruitment and promotion processes to address the workforce shortage in government hospitals and healthcare institutions. “Although the government is actively working to fill vacancies, procedural delays and bureaucratic hurdles slow down the process,” he stated.

Push for Advanced Medical Facilities in Puducherry

Beyond manpower concerns, the Chief Minister underscored the necessity of establishing an advanced medical care center in Puducherry. Despite the presence of JIPMER, many residents still travel to Chennai for specialized treatments. “We must ensure that Puducherry evolves into a hub for advanced medical care, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment elsewhere,” Mr. Rangasamy said.

The government is also focusing on promoting preventive healthcare and wellness programs to build a healthier society. “Raising awareness about preventive care is just as crucial as improving treatment facilities,” he added.

Honoring Contributions to Public Health Initiatives

As part of the event, the Lt. Governor and Chief Minister presented certificates to school teachers and volunteers who contributed to the DREAMS 24 campaign, a public health initiative aimed at controlling the spread of dengue.

Speaker R. Selvam, Minister for Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare A.K. Sai J. Saravanan Kumar, Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan, Health Secretary Jayanta Kumar Ray, Health Director V. Ravichandran, Deputy Director V. Anandalakshmi, and other key officials attended the event.

Comprehensive Health Services and Special Screenings

The three-day festival offers a range of free health screenings and medical consultations, including:
Cancer Screenings – Oral, breast, and cervical cancer examinations.
Lifestyle Disease Check-ups – Obesity, diabetes, and blood pressure screenings.
Diagnostic Services – Chest X-ray, ECG, ultrasound, and blood tests.
Specialist Consultations – Cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, nephrology, mental health, child care, ENT, and ophthalmology services.

A major highlight of the event is the health exhibition, which showcases national health programs, AYUSH-based treatments, yoga demonstrations, and a healthy food festival promoting nutritious diets.

Through initiatives like these, Puducherry aims to reinforce its commitment to comprehensive and accessible healthcare, ensuring that quality medical services reach every citizen.

British Deputy High Commissioner Halima Holland Meets Puducherry CM, Praises Welfare Initiatives

Puducherry, March 7 – Halima Holland, the British Deputy High Commissioner for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister N. Rangasamy at his office on Monday. This marked her first official visit to Puducherry since assuming office in November 2024 as the 27th British Deputy High Commissioner and the first woman to lead the mission in Chennai.

During the meeting, Ms. Holland and Chief Minister Rangasamy engaged in discussions on a wide range of topics, including governance, disaster management, welfare programs, and potential avenues for collaboration between the United Kingdom and Puducherry.

Commendation for Welfare and Disaster Relief Efforts

Ms. Holland expressed her appreciation for the Puducherry government’s proactive approach to public welfare, particularly the efficiency in implementing social security schemes. She lauded the administration’s swift response in providing relief and rehabilitation following Cyclone Fengal, which struck in December, causing significant damage. The Deputy High Commissioner acknowledged the rapid compensation disbursement and timely restoration efforts that helped affected communities recover.

Chief Minister Rangasamy reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of all citizens, emphasizing that the administration has consistently prioritized relief measures and social security programs. “The people have placed their trust in the government, and we are determined to fulfill our promises by delivering impactful policies and support systems,” he said.

Exploring Areas of Bilateral Cooperation

Apart from disaster management, Ms. Holland and the Chief Minister explored possible areas of UK-Puducherry collaboration, including:

  • Education and Skill Development: Strengthening educational ties through academic exchange programs and scholarships for students from Puducherry.
  • Healthcare Innovations: Partnering in medical research, healthcare infrastructure, and digital health solutions to enhance public health services.
  • Sustainable Development: Discussing environmental sustainability, green energy solutions, and climate resilience projects to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
  • Trade and Investment: Encouraging UK businesses to explore investment opportunities in Puducherry, particularly in tourism, technology, and manufacturing sectors.

Strengthening UK-Puducherry Relations

Ms. Holland’s visit underscores the enduring diplomatic engagement between the UK and Puducherry, fostering stronger ties in governance, business, education, and cultural exchanges. She affirmed that the British High Commission remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote mutual growth and cooperation.

Chief Minister Rangasamy welcomed the discussions and expressed optimism about future collaborations that could contribute to Puducherry’s development. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides looking forward to further engagements to enhance bilateral relations.

Puducherry CM Must Clarify Stand on Delimitation, Says Congress Chief

Puducherry: Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and Member of Parliament V. Vaithilingam has urged Chief Minister N. Rangasamy to publicly state his government’s position on the proposed delimitation exercise by the Central government.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday (March 5, 2025), Mr. Vaithilingam pointed out that Chief Ministers from southern states have already made their stance clear, citing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s decision to convene an all-party meeting to present a united front.

He cautioned that the Chief Minister should not prioritize political alliances over the interests of Puducherry. “Mr. Rangasamy has remained silent on critical issues like the National Education Policy (NEP) and the three-language policy. The NEP has already been introduced in the Union Territory. Just as he allowed the implementation of CBSE in government schools, he should ensure that the proposed delimitation does not compromise Puducherry’s political representation,” Mr. Vaithilingam said.

Call for Increased Representation in Lok Sabha and Assembly

Highlighting Puducherry’s projected population of 16 lakh by 2026, he asserted that the Union Territory deserves increased representation. “Currently, states like Goa and Arunachal Pradesh, with similar population figures, have more seats in both the Lok Sabha and their respective Legislative Assemblies. Puducherry should demand an increase from one to two Lok Sabha seats and from 33 to 40 Assembly seats (30 elected and 3 nominated). The government must pass a resolution in the Assembly to formally press for this demand,” he stated.

He also called upon the Puducherry unit of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) to leverage its political strength in the Assembly to pressure the ruling AINRC-BJP alliance into safeguarding Puducherry’s political future.

‘Retain Rajiv Gandhi Bus Terminus Name’

Speaking on infrastructure developments under the Smart City program, the PCC president opposed any potential renaming of the New Bus Stand. “The bus stand should continue to be named ‘Rajiv Gandhi Bus Terminus’ in honor of the former Prime Minister,” he insisted. However, he suggested that the upcoming elevated corridor could be named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as a mark of respect.

Congress Confident in Winning Manavely Seat

Reacting to Speaker R. Selvam’s challenge for former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader V. Narayanasamy to contest against him in Manavely, Mr. Vaithilingam dismissed the need for such a contest. “The Congress doesn’t need to field Mr. Narayanasamy to defeat the Speaker. Even an ordinary Congress worker can win against Mr. Selvam in Manavely,” he remarked.

With mounting political pressure, the coming days are expected to see key developments as Puducherry’s leadership navigates the critical issue of delimitation.

Auroville’s Vision Wellness Initiative is more than just an eye care program—it is a movement towards a healthier, screen-conscious society, setting a precedent for how communities can embrace natural vision correction and preventive care. Renaud Colson, Director of the French Institute of Pondicherry, elaborated on the distinct Franco-Tamil heritage that defines Puducherry’s identity, noting the contributions of French Indologists in decoding Sanskrit and Tamil literature.

Pradeep Narang, Chairman of SAS, reflected on the contributions of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother in deepening Indo-French spiritual connections. “Their shared vision and philosophy continue to serve as a bridge between the East and the West, fostering peace, sustainability, and cultural harmony,” he stated.

The conference also marked the release of a report titled India-France Relations in the Area of History, Tradition, and Contemporary Relevance: Insights from Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, presented by Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary of AuroBharati. Tripathy emphasized Sri Aurobindo’s vision that France has the potential to connect Europe with India through profound spiritual and cultural linkages.

Puducherry’s Mettupalayam ITI Transforms into a Hub for Future-Ready Technical Training

PUDUCHERRY: The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Mettupalayam has undergone a significant transformation, emerging as a cutting-edge training hub designed to equip students with industry-relevant technical skills. With a focus on the latest advancements such as electric vehicles (EVs), drone technology, and next-gen automation, the upgraded ITI aims to bridge the gap between education and employment.

State-of-the-Art Facilities for Industry-Ready Skills

Spread across a sprawling 12.5-acre campus, the modernized ITI now boasts advanced laboratories, specialized workshops, and upgraded equipment aligned with global industry standards. The institution offers 14 specialized trades, including EV maintenance, drone technology, industrial automation, and smart electrical systems—critical skills in today’s evolving job market.

The modernization initiative, backed by financial support from the central and Puducherry governments, is set to revolutionize vocational education in the region. With an investment of ₹3.9 crore, the facility now rivals top-tier technical institutes, ensuring students gain hands-on experience in high-demand sectors.

Bridging the Skill Gap in Emerging Industries

Despite offering world-class training, the ITI faces an enrollment challenge, with student admissions yet to match the available capacity. While the institute has a sanctioned strength of 616 students, current enrollment stands at only 341. However, its placement record remains exceptional, with 100% of its students securing jobs across various industries.

Industry leaders have expressed keen interest in hiring trained professionals from the ITI. Recently, Puducherry’s Electricity Department sought to recruit 125 electricians but could only find 20 eligible candidates, highlighting the high demand for skilled workers. Additionally, companies in sectors like automotive, aviation, and manufacturing are actively hiring ITI graduates, with many securing lucrative job offers from multinational corporations.

Government Support & Industry Collaborations

To encourage student participation, the government has introduced several incentives, including a monthly stipend of ₹1,000, free uniforms, bus services, and meals. This initiative aims to make vocational training more accessible and attractive to aspiring technicians.

The ITI is also fostering partnerships with industry giants like Whirlpool, General Optics (Asia), and emerging EV firms, ensuring students receive hands-on training and job opportunities upon graduation. Experts emphasize that with India’s rapid shift toward electric mobility and automation, trained professionals will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the workforce.

A Call for Greater Awareness

Despite these advancements, awareness about ITI courses remains limited. Industry experts and educationists urge parents and students to recognize the immense potential of technical education. The institute’s introduction of drone technology and EV-focused training offers a gateway to promising careers in cutting-edge industries.

“The demand for skilled technicians is growing exponentially. With the right training, students from Puducherry can secure well-paying jobs not just locally but globally,” said a senior industry leader.

As the world moves towards automation, renewable energy, and electric mobility, Mettupalayam ITI stands as a beacon of opportunity, ready to shape the next generation of skilled professionals.

Aurore Van Praag’s ‘Poetic Travels in Space and Time’ Unfolds in Puducherry’s Kalinka Art Gallery

Puducherry, India – Art enthusiasts in Puducherry are in for a visual treat as Belgian artist Aurore Van Praag unveils her latest exhibition, Poetic Travels in Space and Time, at the renowned Kalinka Art Gallery. The exhibition, which runs until March 29, brings together an eclectic mix of photography, paintings, and drawings, offering visitors an immersive journey through the artist’s unique perspective on time, space, and artistic expression.

The showcase highlights Ms. Praag’s signature style, blending automatism with an evocative exploration of form and perception. Her works frequently challenge conventional artistic norms, inviting audiences to engage with art on a deeper, more intuitive level.

An Artist Beyond Boundaries

Aurore Van Praag is a multi-disciplinary artist with an impressive body of work spanning painting, photography, and sculpture. Based in Brussels, her artistic endeavors are deeply influenced by surrealism, abstraction, and a profound understanding of human emotions. Known for her ability to capture fleeting moments and transform them into timeless pieces, Ms. Praag has exhibited extensively across Europe and beyond.

Her residency at Kalinka Art Gallery has provided her with a fresh source of inspiration. Over the past month, she has immersed herself in the culture, landscapes, and rhythms of Puducherry, producing an exclusive collection of paintings and drawings that form a crucial part of this exhibition. These works not only reflect her evolving artistic journey but also pay homage to the vibrant essence of the coastal town.

Inside the Exhibition: A Journey Through Time and Space

Poetic Travels in Space and Time is a carefully curated selection of Ms. Praag’s artistic explorations. The exhibition is structured around three main themes:

Brussels Through Her Lens: A section dedicated to her captivating photography, showcasing the streets, architecture, and urban landscapes of Brussels. Her photographic works capture an ethereal quality, blending reality with an almost dreamlike vision.

Residency Creations: A striking collection of paintings and drawings produced during her one-month stay at Kalinka. These works reveal her response to Puducherry’s unique atmosphere, colors, and cultural nuances.

Automatism and Beyond: A reflection of her experimental approach to art, where spontaneity and subconscious expression take center stage. This section features her abstract and surrealist compositions, often defying traditional interpretations of form and movement.

Challenging Artistic Norms

Aurore Van Praag’s art is rooted in the concept of automatism, a technique often associated with the Surrealist movement. Her approach emphasizes spontaneous creation, bypassing rational control to allow subconscious imagery to emerge naturally. This method results in pieces that are not only visually compelling but also rich in meaning and interpretation.

“In my work, I seek to break the barriers between the seen and the unseen, the conscious and the unconscious,” says Ms. Praag. “Art, to me, is a medium of exploration—of time, space, and the human psyche.”

Her paintings often feature fluid forms, dynamic lines, and an interplay of light and shadow that create a sense of motion and depth. Similarly, her photography captures the ephemeral beauty of everyday moments, transforming ordinary scenes into profound visual narratives.

The Significance of Kalinka Art Gallery

Nestled in the heart of Uppalam, Kalinka Art Gallery has established itself as a hub for contemporary and experimental art. The gallery is known for hosting innovative exhibitions that bridge cultures and artistic styles, making it the perfect venue for Ms. Praag’s latest showcase.

Kalinka’s intimate setting allows visitors to engage closely with the artworks, fostering a deeper connection between the audience and the artist’s vision. The gallery’s commitment to promoting international artists further enriches Puducherry’s vibrant art scene, making this exhibition a must-visit for art lovers and cultural connoisseurs alike.

Experiencing the Exhibition

Visitors to Poetic Travels in Space and Time can expect a multi-sensory experience. Ms. Praag’s works invite introspection, evoking emotions that range from nostalgia to curiosity. Each piece serves as a portal into different dimensions—whether through the lens of her camera capturing the urban vibrancy of Brussels or through the strokes of her brush depicting the tranquil beauty of Puducherry.

Beyond the visual appeal, the exhibition also serves as a dialogue between cultures, highlighting the universal language of art. Through her residency in Puducherry, Ms. Praag has seamlessly woven together elements of her European artistic sensibilities with the local aesthetic influences she encountered, creating a body of work that resonates on a global scale.

Event Details and Visitor Information

Poetic Travels in Space and Time will be on display at Kalinka Art Gallery until March 29. The gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday, between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Admission is free, making it accessible to both casual visitors and serious art aficionados.

For those interested in acquiring Ms. Praag’s artworks, limited editions of her photographs and original paintings will be available for purchase. AIADMK Slams Puducherry Government for Rising Crim

Puducherry, India: In a strongly worded statement, AIADMK Secretary A. Anbalagan expressed concerns over the rising crime rates in Puducherry, warning the government against transforming the city into a "lawless den of criminal and illegal activities." Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Anbalagan highlighted the urgent need for independent and uncompromising policing to ensure the safety and security of the residents, especially as the government continues to promote tourism in the region.

A Call for Stronger Law Enforcement to Uphold Public Trust

Anbalagan's comments come amidst growing concerns among residents and local leaders regarding the surge in criminal activities, particularly in urban areas. He emphasized that while tourism is essential for the region’s economy, it should not come at the cost of public safety.

“The government cannot afford to ignore the lawlessness creeping into our city. Law enforcement is at the heart of maintaining public confidence, and without it, Puducherry risks losing its reputation as a safe place for both residents and visitors,” Anbalagan said.

He stressed that the law enforcement agencies must be equipped and empowered to act swiftly and decisively against criminals. This would not only help curb the rising crime rates but also inspire trust and confidence within the community, making the city a better place to live, work, and visit.

Tourism vs. Crime: Striking the Right Balance

While tourism is a critical driver of Puducherry’s economy, Anbalagan warned that unchecked crime could tarnish the city's image. “The government’s promotion of tourism cannot be divorced from the need to protect the public from criminal activities. It is crucial that our law enforcement remains vigilant and proactive in tackling crime," he added.

Anbalagan’s remarks come at a time when the city is experiencing an influx of tourists, leading to concerns about the impact of increasing criminal activities in tourist-heavy areas. From petty thefts to organized crime, local authorities are under pressure to manage the safety of residents and tourists alike.

AIADMK's Stand on Crime and Governance

The AIADMK has long been an advocate for stronger governance and law enforcement, arguing that effective policing is essential for sustainable development. Anbalagan's call for action resonates with broader political and public sentiment that prioritizes safety alongside growth and development.

As the government faces criticism, the onus now lies on local authorities to take decisive action to restore order and trust. The AIADMK has vowed to continue raising awareness on this issue and pressuring the government to take the necessary steps to combat rising crime.

Puducherry Police Launch Major Crackdown on Anti-S

In a major security operation, Puducherry police arrested six individuals and executed three long-pending non-bailable warrants during a surprise raid on Saturday. The operation, named Trishul, was a special drive aimed at cracking down on anti-social elements in the region. Additionally, police initiated security proceedings against 46 individuals under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, a law designed to maintain public order and safety.

Operation Trishul: A Comprehensive Effort to Ensure Public Safety

The operation saw the deployment of approximately 250 police personnel, who conducted raids in multiple areas across Puducherry, focusing on high-risk zones associated with criminal activities. R. Kalaivanan, Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order), stated that the police had targeted 260 history-sheeters — individuals with a known criminal background — in an effort to prevent any further anti-social activities.

The surprise raid, executed early in the morning, included extensive searches at the residences of these individuals, and was intended to disrupt criminal activities and enforce law and order. During the operation, authorities focused not only on arresting suspects but also on sending a strong message to the community regarding the commitment to ensuring safety and security.

Impact on Public Security and Community Trust

The successful execution of warrants and the arrests made during the raid have been hailed as a significant step towards improving public security. These actions are aimed at curbing the activities of organized crime groups and ensuring that those who have long evaded the law are held accountable.

The initiative has also bolstered community trust, as residents see the efforts of the police to create a safer environment for everyone. The crackdown aligns with Puducherry's ongoing efforts to tackle crime, particularly related to gangs and anti-social elements who disrupt public peace.

A Proactive Approach to Law Enforcement

This surprise raid is part of a broader strategy by the Puducherry police to conduct proactive operations aimed at both preventing and addressing criminal activity. By engaging directly with high-risk individuals and groups, the police hope to deter future crime and reinforce the rule of law.

Authorities have also emphasized that similar operations will continue to be carried out at regular intervals to ensure a visible and sustained presence of law enforcement across the Union Territory.

As the police force continues its relentless efforts to uphold peace and security, the public is urged to cooperate with authorities, as community involvement remains crucial in the fight against crime.

Indigo Airlines to Begin Flight Operations from Pu

In a significant development for air travel connectivity in South India, Indigo Airlines has announced the launch of scheduled flight operations from Puducherry Airport starting December 20. This move is expected to enhance connectivity for both residents and travelers in the region, providing direct access to key cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The airline will initially operate flights on two key routes: Puducherry to Hyderabad and Puducherry to Bengaluru. To cater to the demand, the airline will deploy the smaller ATR-72 type aircraft, which is known for its efficiency on short to medium-haul flights. This aircraft choice ensures smoother operations at smaller airports like Puducherry, while also offering better fuel efficiency and lower operational costs for the airline.

    Boosting Regional Connectivity

According to K. Rajasehar Reddy, Director of Puducherry Airport, the new flight services are expected to significantly improve the region's connectivity, providing greater access to business, tourism, and leisure opportunities for the residents of Puducherry and neighboring areas. This will also provide more options for those traveling to and from key destinations in South India, facilitating easier and faster travel for passengers.

The commencement of flight operations comes as part of the Indian government's ongoing efforts to bolster regional air connectivity under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, which aims to make air travel affordable and accessible for citizens living in smaller towns and cities.

A Positive Impact on Local Economy

The introduction of air services from Puducherry is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy by fostering tourism, improving access for businesses, and creating jobs. Puducherry, known for its beautiful beaches and colonial architecture, has long been a popular tourist destination, and enhanced air connectivity is expected to bring in more visitors, boosting the local hospitality and tourism sectors.

Additionally, the new service offers greater opportunities for residents of Puducherry to access major economic hubs like Hyderabad and Bengaluru, which are key business and technology centers. These new routes can also help increase trade and tourism ties between Puducherry and the rest of the country.

    Future Prospects and Growth

While the initial routes from Puducherry to Hyderabad and Bengaluru are likely to see good demand, the airline may expand its offerings based on customer response and market demand. The new flights mark a significant step in improving regional connectivity, and the airline is hopeful that the service will be well-received by travelers, offering them convenience and affordability.

With the launch date set for December 20, Indigo Airlines' entry into Puducherry will undoubtedly be a game-changer for local travel and is expected to open up new possibilities for both residents and visitors to explore the region and beyond.
