The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (KGAF) returns to Mumbai, commemorating its 25th anniversary with a diverse array of art, music, dance, cinema, and heritage walks. Scheduled from January 25 to February 2, this year's festival assures an extraordinary experience for art aficionados and culture enthusiasts. Featuring events tailored for all age groups, KGAF 2025 presents a variety of performances, workshops, and interactive sessions, providing an excellent opportunity to engage with Mumbai's vibrant artistic and cultural legacy.
A Day of Vibrant Activities: January 30, 2025
On January 30, the festival features an exciting lineup of activities that cater to everyone, from children to adults. The day includes hands-on workshops, dance performances, live cinema screenings, and immersive heritage walks.
Creative Workshops for Children
The CSMVS Children’s Museum will host two engaging sessions for young minds on January 30.
Creative Workshop with The Cathedral School From 10:15 am to 11:00 am, Class 4 students from The Cathedral and John Connon School will explore their creativity through a fun-filled workshop designed to stimulate their imagination. The session aims to encourage students to express their thoughts and ideas through art.
Build Your Imagination with Troy Wooden Blocks Children aged 5 to 12 years can participate in a hands-on workshop from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Using Troy Wooden Blocks, kids will engage in problem-solving and creative activities, building imaginative structures while learning valuable skills.
Cinema for Film Buffs
Film lovers can indulge in a variety of short films and feature-length movies at KR Cama Hall.
Shorts Package: Curated by Abhra Das (1:00 pm - 3:30 pm) A curated collection of films by emerging filmmakers in India, this package includes unique films such as An Orphanage of Memories, Hema, and Shackles of Sky. These films showcase fresh talent with diverse storytelling styles.
Humans in the Loop (4:00 pm - 6:00 pm) Directed by Aranya Sahay, this Hindi and Kurukh fiction feature tells the compelling story of an Adivasi woman working in a data center in remote Jharkhand, where she begins interacting with artificial intelligence.
Shorts Package: Nagari Films (6:00 pm - 8:00 pm) This screening will explore Mumbai's realities, focusing on themes such as urban displacement, environmental issues, and the politics of space. A panel discussion featuring filmmakers and writers will follow the screenings, offering a deeper insight into these pressing issues.

Cross Maidan will come alive with stunning dance performances throughout the evening:
Kahani Abhi Baki Hain (5:30 pm) Experience a unique Bollywood dance performance where senior citizens bring youthful energy and joy to the stage, proving that age is just a number when it comes to passion and expression.
Kathak by Tejaswini Sathe (6:00 pm - 6:40 pm) Renowned Pune-based artists Tejaswini Sathe and her students from the TANZ Kathak Academy will perform intricate Kathak movements, showcasing the beauty and elegance of this classical dance form.
Shobha Gurtu - A Musical Legacy (7:30 pm) A tribute to the Thumri legend Shobha Gurtu, this performance by Sraboni Chaudhuri and Dhanashree will combine soulful music and graceful Kathak dance, celebrating the unparalleled contribution of Shobha Gurtu to Indian classical music.
Echoes of Tradition (7:40 pm - 8:15 pm) Experience the rich cultural roots of Spain in a mesmerizing performance by Mónica de la Fuente and Germán Díaz, featuring the evocative sounds of the zanfona (hurdy-gurdy) and elegant Spanish dance.

Bora Bazar Heritage Walk (5:00 pm - 6:30 pm) Wander through Bora Bazar, a bustling commercial area, and discover the historical connections between commerce and culture in this part of the city.
