Mumbai’s First Elevated Nature Walkway
Mumbai has introduced its first elevated nature walkway at Malabar Hill, providing a peaceful retreat for locals and tourists. Check out Singapore's amazing ‘Tree Top Walk’! This incredible 485-meter-long trail lets you soak in the city's lush greenery from up high. After four years of hard work to develop it, it's now the go-to spot for anyone who loves nature, wants to get in some exercise, or just snap some great photos.
A Walk Through Lush Greenery
This elevated walkway takes visitors through the treetops, surrounded by over 100 plant species such as Gulmohar, Almond, Jamun, and Banyan trees. The lush greenery here is like a magnet for all sorts of birds, like kingfishers, parakeets, and bulbuls. It really is a birdwatcher's paradise! Plus, you'll spot some small reptiles too, like lizards and pythons hanging around. With the enhanced design, folks can soak in the beauty of nature without bothering the wildlife.
Stunning Views and Exciting Features
One of the highlights is the Sea Viewing Deck, which provides breathtaking views of Mumbai’s Arabian Sea coastline and Girgaon Chowpatty. The Glass-Bottom Viewing Deck offers a thrilling experience, giving visitors the feeling of walking on air above the forest. A dedicated birdwatching area allows nature lovers to quietly observe Mumbai’s avian species. The peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect escape from city life.
How to Reach the Walkway
The walkway is accessible from Siri Road, located behind Kamala Nehru Park. Visitors can reach the location by train, with Charni Road and Grant Road being the nearest railway stations. BEST buses and private vehicles can also reach the area, with parking available nearby.
Entry Fee, Timings, and Guidelines
The walkway is open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Indian citizens pay an entry fee of ₹25, while foreign tourists are charged ₹100. To prevent overcrowding, only 400 visitors are allowed at a time. CCTV cameras ensure safety, and carrying food is prohibited to keep the area clean and protect wildlife.
An Eco-Friendly Initiative
Built at a cost of ₹25 crore, the walkway was designed with sustainability in mind. Made primarily of wood, it minimizes environmental impact while preserving the natural slopes of Malabar Hill. The project allows rainwater to flow freely and wildlife to move without obstacles, contributing to Mumbai’s green initiatives.
Why You Should Visit
This walkway offers a fresh way to experience Mumbai’s natural beauty. Whether for birdwatching, photography, or simply a relaxing walk, it provides an opportunity to connect with nature. The combination of stunning views, peaceful surroundings, and eco-friendly design makes it a must-visit destination in the city.
