Uttar Pradesh Police are investigating a video circulating widely on social media that allegedly captures the fatal road accident involving Abaan Ahmed, the youngest son of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed. The video has quickly gone viral on social media, with some people saying it captures the same moment Abaan and his friends' car collided. Police, however, have not confirmed whether the viral footage is genuine or actually connected to the Jhansi accident. Until the video's source and contents have been thoroughly confirmed, authorities have advised people not to distribute it as genuine.

Police Begin Verification of Viral Footage

The Moth circle officer in Jhansi said police were examining the video following directions from the Senior Superintendent of Police. Officials are checking whether the footage was recorded during the same accident and whether the location and circumstances visible in the video correspond with the crash reported in Jhansi. Authorities have also appealed to social media users to exercise caution before forwarding or reposting the clip. The warning comes amid widespread circulation of accident-related videos online, where old or unrelated footage can sometimes be presented as visuals from recent incidents. Police are therefore attempting to establish the video's origin and authenticity before making any official statement about it.

What Is Seen in the Viral Video?

The video reportedly appears to show a vehicle travelling along a road before suddenly losing control and striking a road divider. The footage is said to have been recorded from another vehicle travelling behind the car. Social media posts have linked the clip to the accident involving Abaan Ahmed. However, there is currently no official confirmation that the video was recorded during the fatal crash. The footage has not been independently verified, and police are examining available evidence to determine whether it is genuine.

How Did the Fatal Accident Happen?

The accident took place in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, while Abaan Ahmed was travelling with four other people. The car was traveling quickly when it abruptly lost control and struck a road divider, according to the police. The crash occurred at around 10:30 am in the Poonch police station area of Jhansi. Five people were travelling in the vehicle at the time. Three passengers were hurt and sent for medical attention, while two occupantsincluding 20-year-old Abaandied as a result of the collision.

Driver Reportedly Suffered Momentary Blackout

Police officials said the driver, identified as Zaid, told investigators that he experienced a sudden episode of dizziness or a momentary blackout shortly before the collision. Jhansi Senior Superintendent of Police BB GTS Murti said officials had spoken with the survivors and the driver to understand what led to the accident. Based on the driver's initial account, the sudden loss of awareness may have caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The investigation is continuing, and authorities are expected to examine other available evidence before reaching a final conclusion about the exact cause of the crash.

Abaan Was Travelling to Meet His Brother

At the time of the accident, Abaan was reportedly travelling towards Jhansi district jail to meet his elder brother, Ali Ahmed. Ali is currently lodged in the district jail in connection with criminal cases. Abaan's journey was cut short when the vehicle met with the deadly crash in the Poonch area. The incident has drawn significant attention because of Abaan's connection to Atiq Ahmed, who was killed in Prayagraj in 2023 along with his brother Ashraf while being taken for a medical examination.

Police Appeal Against Unverified Claims

With the accident already attracting considerable attention online, police are particularly concerned about the spread of unverified footage and claims. Officials have asked the public to refrain from treating the viral video as confirmed evidence until investigators establish its authenticity. The police verification will focus on the source of the recording, its location, timing and whether the vehicle shown is connected to the Jhansi accident. For now, the viral footage remains unconfirmed. Police are continuing their investigation into both the video and the circumstances surrounding the crash that claimed the lives of Abaan Ahmed and another passenger.
