Ranchi: Focus on Inclusivity and Infrastructure A three-member delegation from the University Grants Commission (UGC) arrived in Ranchi on Thursday to conduct an inspection of Ranchi University. The team, comprising Dr. Himangshu Das from Guwahati, Prof. Ramakrishna Reddy from Hyderabad, and UGC Deputy Secretary Amol Andhare, aims to evaluate the facilities available for differently-abled individuals at the university.
On Friday, the team is scheduled to meet with Ranchi University Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajit Kumar Sinha, alongside other key officials.
The agenda comprises a detailed examination of the university's main campus, including its postgraduate departments, classrooms, library, auditorium, health center, and other essential facilities.
To gain a deeper insight into the inclusivity initiatives, the team will engage in discussions with students, educators, and staff members with disabilities.
Post-inspection, the team is expected to prepare their report during the second shift and likely return the same day.
The university administration, led by DSW Dr. Sudesh Kumar Sahu, Technical Secretary Dr. BK Sinha, Registrar Dr. Vinod Narayan, and others, will assist the UGC delegation throughout their visit to ensure smooth proceedings.
Ranchi University Employees Get 3% DA Hike
Relief for Working and Retired Employees
In a significant announcement, Ranchi University has increased the dearness allowance (DA) of its employees by 3%, effective January 2025. This includes working and retired teachers, officers, principals, non-teaching staff, and employees from the university headquarters, PG departments, and affiliated colleges.
The hike raises the DA from 50% to 53% as per the seventh pay scale guidelines issued by the state government. However, arrears for the period from July 2024 to December 2024 will only be disbursed once funds are available in the university's PL account. The notification, issued on Thursday by Registrar Dr. Vinod Narayan on the orders of the Vice Chancellor, has brought much-needed financial relief to the university community.
MBBS Exam Form Submission Date Extended
New Deadlines to Benefit Students
In another important update, Ranchi University has extended the deadline for submitting the examination forms for the MBBS annual exams for 2025. Students can now submit their forms between January 16 and January 20, 2025, without incurring a late fee.
The total fee for the examination is ₹2,200, which includes ₹2,000 as the examination fee, ₹100 for the mark sheet, and ₹100 for processing. This decision ensures that students have ample time to complete the formalities and avoid unnecessary stress as they prepare for their exams.
