The incident occurred around 4:30 PM on Sunday when the train was crossing Sultanpur. A sudden technical glitch caused a complete power failure in all coaches, plunging the train into darkness. The passengers' problems were exacerbated by a water shortage in the restrooms as a result of the outage. With no immediate resolution in sight, passengers resorted to using their mobile phone flashlights to navigate washrooms and other essential tasks.

Significant Delays and Passenger Ordeal

The train crawled towards its next major stop, Varanasi Cantt, arriving at 9:38 PM, approximately three hours behind schedule. Temporary fixes failed to fully restore power, and intermittent outages continued to plague the journey. The delays further compounded as the train proceeded towards Ghazipur, Ballia, and finally Chhapra, arriving hours past its scheduled time.

Passengers Express Outrage

Frustrated passengers voiced their grievances about the lack of timely communication and assistance from railway staff. Atul Singh Jha, one of the passengers, formally lodged a complaint highlighting the lack of preparation to handle such technical failures. In addition, many travelers shared their experiences on social media and called on railway officials to be held accountable.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Madgaon Vande Bharat Express was mistakenly diverted via the Kalyan station instead of the designated Diva-Panvel route due to another technical issue. Although quickly rectified, this raised further questions about the operational efficiency of premium train services.
