Chandigarh Administration Takes Major Action Against Ola

In a significant move that could reshape app-based transportation services in the city, the Chandigarh Administration has suspended the aggregator license of Ola for six months. All Ola taxi and bike taxi services in Chandigarh will completely cease to operate as of June 17, 2026, according to the State Transport Authority's (STA) decision.

The action has been taken against ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd., the company that operates the Ola platform. As a result, commuters who rely on the ride-hailing service and thousands of drivers associated with the platform are expected to face considerable challenges in the coming months.

No Ola Cab or Bike Taxi Bookings for Six Months

Ola will not be allowed to provide any taxi or bike taxi services through its platform during the suspension period, per the State Transport Authority's order.The administration has directed all vehicle owners and drivers linked with the company to immediately stop accepting rides and remove their vehicles from the platform.

Officials have emphasized that the suspension applies to all categories of services offered through the Ola app in Chandigarh. Drivers have been instructed not to accept any new bookings through the application until further notice.

The Chandigarh Administration has warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the suspension order.

Drivers or operators may be subject to fines and vehicle impoundment if they continue to offer services via the Ola app in spite of the ban.
