A joint team of Kaithal and Kurukshetra police has busted a gang involved in illegal gender determination. The accused, Rishi Saini, a resident of Kailram village, was caught red-handed with an ultrasound machine and ₹30,000 in cash. Acting on a tip-off, the police devised a plan and sent a pregnant woman as a decoy customer, leading to the accused’s immediate arrest.
How the Racket Was Exposed?
The police had been receiving reports for a long time that the accused, Rishipal, was conducting illegal gender determination in villages. He operated secretly, setting up ultrasound machines at different locations and charging between ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 for each gender test. Based on this information, a joint operation was carried out by the Kaithal and Kurukshetra police teams. A pregnant woman was sent as a decoy, who approached the accused for a gender test. As soon as he conducted an ultrasound and tried to reveal the gender, the police team raided the place and caught him red-handed.
Location of the Setup
Investigations revealed that the accused had set up the ultrasound machine at the house of Chandra Sunar in Manas village, where he used to call pregnant women for gender tests. During the raid, doctors from Kurukshetra, including Dr. Gaurav Bansal and Dr. Rishi, along with Dr. Gaurav Poonia and Dr. Lalit Kumar from Kaithal, were present. The police recovered an ultrasound machine and ₹30,000 in cash from the location.
Accused Was Previously Arrested in 2016
Reports indicate that Rishipal had previously been arrested in a similar case in 2016. At that time, a case was registered against him at Kalayat Police Station. Despite being caught earlier, he resumed his illegal activities, exploiting pregnant women and charging hefty amounts for gender tests.
Legal and Social Implications
Illegal gender testing is not only against the law but also contributes to gender imbalance in society. These kinds of practices really push for female foeticide, which harms our demographic setup in the long run. We definitely need strict laws and to raise public awareness to tackle these issues and support gender equality.
Further Investigation Underway
The police are diving into the case to see if there are more folks involved in this illegal activity. We can expect more arrests to happen soon. This really sends a strong message against illegal gender determination and shows that they’re serious about cracking down on this kind of stuff moving forward.
