In a bold move to establish Andhra Pradesh as a hub for emerging technologies, the state Cabinet, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday (November 6, 2024), approved three landmark policies that are set to reshape the state's technological landscape. The policies—A.P. Drone Policy 4.0, A.P. Data Centre Policy 4.0, and A.P. Semiconductors and Display Fab Policy 4.0—aim to bolster innovation and attract massive investments, creating thousands of jobs and putting the state on the global tech map.

A Vision for Kurnool: Drone Policy 4.0 to Transform the Region

The highlight of the new initiatives is the A.P. Drone Policy 4.0, which envisions Kurnool district as a major drone hub. This ambitious policy is designed to make Andhra Pradesh a leader in drone technology, offering a significant boost to the state's tech ecosystem. Minister for Information and Public Relations Kolusu Parthasarathy shared with the media that the drone policy will not only generate ₹1,000 crore in investments but will also create 15,000 direct and 25,000 indirect employment opportunities for the youth.

"The state is poised to see a transformative leap, both economically and technologically, with the introduction of the drone policy. Our goal is to create a robust drone industry that contributes ₹3,000 crore in revenue, while also empowering our youth with new job opportunities," Parthasarathy said.

Data Centres and Semiconductors: Fueling Andhra Pradesh’s Tech Revolution

In addition to drones, the state is also investing heavily in infrastructure for data centres and semiconductor manufacturing. The A.P. Data Centre Policy 4.0 aims to position the state as a key player in the data storage and cloud services sector, catering to the increasing demand for secure and scalable digital infrastructure. Meanwhile, the A.P. Semiconductors and Display Fab Policy 4.0 is set to attract global semiconductor companies, turning Andhra Pradesh into a crucial manufacturing base for the next generation of chips and displays.
