In the wake of the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian government has moved swiftly to tighten its internal security. Following clear instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Telangana police have kicked off a big operation to send back 33 Pakistani nationals who are currently living in the state. This move shows India’s strong stand on national security and makes it clear that there’s no room for leniency when it comes to foreign nationals during such sensitive times.
Regular Visas Cancelled, Medical Visas Temporarily Exempted
The Centre’s order specifies that from April 27 onwards, all regular visas issued to Pakistani citizens will be cancelled. The only exception is for medical visas, which will remain valid until April 29. Long-Term Visas (LTVs), diplomatic visas, and official visas are exempted from this new directive. Authorities are making it clear: only those with valid, exceptional circumstances can stay — the rest must leave immediately.
Who Will Be Deported? Telangana’s Numbers Revealed
As per official data, there are 232 Pakistani nationals living in Telangana under different visa categories. Out of these, 33 individuals hold regular visas and are now under deportation orders. The remaining 199 Pakistani nationals hold LTVs and will not be affected by the visa cancellation move. Hyderabad city itself accounts for four of the individuals now under close watch, with birth years ranging from 1985 to as recent as 2023.
‘Leave India’ Notices Issued Without Delay
Authorities have wasted no time in implementing the Centre’s directive. ‘Leave India’ notices are being actively issued to the affected individuals. Speaking to the media, Chaitanya Kumar, DCP, Hyderabad Special Branch, stressed that there would be "no delays, no excuses." All individuals under notice are being closely monitored, and their documents, photographs, and residential details have already been thoroughly verified.
Special Cases Under MHA Review
While most cases are straightforward, some special situations require further clarification from the Ministry. For example, in the Rachakonda Commissionerate, a Pakistani woman’s deportation is pending due to an ongoing court stay. She had married an Indian man in Saudi Arabia in 2011 and later sought LTV status in India. In Cyberabad, authorities are handling the case of a divorced Indian woman who returned from Pakistan with her child. While the woman is allowed to stay, the child, being a Pakistani citizen, must be deported according to existing rules.
Continuous Surveillance of Pakistani Nationals
Telangana Police confirmed that all individuals targeted for deportation are under strict surveillance. Their movements, associations, and activities have been closely tracked for months, and detailed dossiers have been maintained. "We have every document on file. Monitoring has been non-stop. There’s no scope for any mistake," emphasized Sai Sri, DCP, Cyberabad Special Branch.
Attari Border and Air Travel Rules
The primary exit point designated for these deportations is the Attari border in Punjab. Pakistani nationals have been instructed to leave via land routes before the April 30 deadline. Those who choose to leave by air must depart from either Delhi or Mumbai airports, traveling on foreign airlines to Pakistan. Hyderabad airport is not recognized as a direct exit point for Pakistani nationals, meaning anyone wishing to leave from Hyderabad must first transit through countries like Saudi Arabia or Dubai.
Streamlined Deportation Process Across Commissionerates
The tri-commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda are working in close coordination to ensure a smooth deportation process. Each individual must first report to the Special Branch, where their documents will be scrutinized, their departure form will be generated, and immigration authorities will be notified. Flight tickets must be booked and presented well in advance, leaving no room for last-minute hitches.
