Germany's healthcare system is undergoing a transformative shift with the introduction of a groundbreaking hospital reform law. Passed by the upper house of parliament, this reform aims to overhaul how hospitals are funded and how care is delivered across the country, with gradual implementation set to begin in January 2025.

The reform’s centerpiece is a change in how hospitals are financed. Instead of being paid per treatment, hospitals will receive guaranteed payments for maintaining essential services.
