A powerful earthquake struck Noida, Ghaziabad, and several parts of North India early Monday morning, causing panic among residents. The tremors were felt at 5:36 AM, forcing people to rush out of their homes. The earthquake measured 4.0 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter reported in Nangloi Jat, Delhi, at a depth of 5 kilometers beneath the surface.
Severe Tremors Shake Delhi-NCR
This earthquake was one of the strongest felt in Delhi-NCR in recent years. The tremors lasted for several seconds, shaking buildings and household items. People reported feeling their beds and furniture moving. Fortunately, no major damage or casualties have been reported so far.
In addition to Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi, and Gurugram, the tremors were also felt in Muradabad, Saharanpur, Alwar, Mathura, and Agra in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Kurukshetra, Hisar, and Kaithal in Haryana.
Back-to-Back Earthquakes Trigger Panic
Residents experienced two separate tremors on Monday morning:
- First tremor: 5:36 AM (Epicenter: Delhi, Nangloi Jat)
- Second tremor: 8:02 AM (Epicenter: Siwan, Bihar)
The second quake further intensified panic, with people in Mathura, Agra, Meerut, Saharanpur, and Moradabad rushing out of their homes. Many described the sensation as similar to being inside a moving train experiencing a sudden jolt.
