The accused, identified as Jatav, confronted the seer, Katiyar, and demanded money for alcohol. When Katiyar refused and scolded him, Jatav became enraged and violently attacked the seer, leaving him injured.

The incident took place in the heart of Kanpur, where the altercation quickly escalated into physical violence. Katiyar, who was the victim of the assault, immediately reported the attack to the police. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Kanpur Police launched an investigation and arrested the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A senior officer of the Kanpur Police stated, "A case has been registered under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult) of the Indian Penal Code. After further investigation, section 506 (criminal intimidation) was also added to the charges. The accused has been apprehended and sent to jail."
