In an ambitious drive to revitalize public education infrastructure, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin virtually inaugurated a new wave of classrooms, science laboratories, and residential school facilities across 141 government schools, spanning 29 districts, on November 8, 2024. This large-scale project, costing over ₹171.16 crore, aims to make quality education more accessible, especially in rural areas, by providing modern classrooms and well-equipped science labs, part of a broader mission to bridge educational disparities and prepare students for a competitive future.

Aiming to reach underserved and rural areas, the state’s initiative includes 754 newly constructed classrooms and 17 advanced laboratories. This project aligns with Tamil Nadu’s ongoing commitment to educational reform, targeting both infrastructure and learning outcomes, particularly for students in state-run institutions. The initiative further emphasizes inclusivity through improvements at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalayas (NSCBAV) schools, which provide residential schooling options for marginalized students, including girls from economically weaker sections and first-generation learners.
